It'll probably come in useful for things like purple potions or purple spellbooks, but the utility of the gray far outweighs that. It makes my walls a little more neutral, gives more opportunities for armor colors and lends my gray/silver dragons a little more contrast. The color works really well for shading dark green and offers a low-saturation alternative for pink shading. With the gray, I've found a much-needed color for the "black" creatures.
